Sound Electronics installs remote starters on Subarus in Woodstock, including the Crosstrek, Forester, Outback, Impreza and WRX.
We can fit a remote starter to most Subarus, including manual-transmission models, so the vehicle is warm and the glass is clear before you get in.
We fit remote starters to Subaru vehicles regularly, including:
If yours is not on the list, that does not mean it cannot be done — call with the year, model and trim and we will tell you what it needs.
Subarus come in key-start and push-button start versions depending on the model, year and trim. Key-start vehicles need an immobilizer bypass so the engine runs without the key in the ignition; push-button vehicles need an interface module that communicates with the vehicle’s electronics. The factory immobilizer stays active, so the vehicle cannot be driven away without the key.
Some newer Subarus offer remote start through the factory fob or the MySubaru app with Subaru Starlink, depending on the model, year and trim, and app-based start may depend on a connected-services plan. An aftermarket system works from its own remote, with optional two-way confirmation and optional smartphone control.
Subaru has sold manual gearboxes on models including the Crosstrek, Impreza and WRX. A manual can take a remote starter; the system has to be certain the vehicle cannot start in gear, so we fit the additional safety provisions as standard on manual vehicles. See our vehicle compatibility page for how that works.
We install Viper and iDatastart remote starters in one-way and two-way configurations, with smartphone control available as an add-on. On many vehicles the system can also be set up so the factory key fob starts the engine, if you would rather not carry a second remote.

Yes. The installation depends on whether the vehicle is key-start or push-button start.
A properly installed remote starter should not affect your vehicle warranty. Problems come from poor installation, not from remote start itself.
